Quick Tip: What is web hosting?

Plenty of people come to me with this question: “What is web hosting and do I need it?” Simply put, web hosting is basically a storage space for the files that make up your website. In order for your website to be visible to the public, you need to upload it’s files to a server that is publicly accessible. This is what web hosting companies do – purchase, set up, and administrate servers that are set up for this purpose.
Hosting is an important part of having a website and is absolutely necessary. You want to choose a company you trust, and preferably one with great customer service. I’ve heard stories on both ends of the spectrum for companies such as GoDaddy, BlueHost, etc. – some people have a rough time with them, and others have no problems whatsoever.
Zoda Design offers website hosting starting at $35/year, but we are happy to work with whichever hosting company you choose.
