5 Tips on How to SAVE Money with Your Website
If you’re going to have a website, why not put it to work? Many people do not realize that your website can SAVE you money as well as MAKE you money. Read on to learn more!
1. Save money on customer service
If your customers have questions about your products and/or services, your website can step in with a well-written Frequently Asked Questions page. Just have your customer service professionals make a list of what they usually get asked, and pair it with whatever message they’ve memorized as the answer! Customers will be thrilled that you anticipated their needs. Pro tip: have a writer edit your FAQs for clarity.
2. Save money on sales
Let’s face it, your sales team is made up of humans, and no human wants to be working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Lucky for us, your website is powered by technology, which is always awake. Even if your customers are up with insomnia at 4am, they can still be visiting your website to learn about your business. Pro tip: have a professionally-made video that includes a demonstration, a commercial, or something educational on your product or service – your customers and sales people will thank you!
3. Save money on marketing materials
Printed materials are pretty, but they’re often ineffective, quickly outdated, and easy to throw away. If your phone number or business location changes, you’ll have to update and reprint your materials, which can get expensive! And then what happens if you notice a typo in those materials? It’s like throwing money out the window sometimes. On the other hand, someone may visit your website once, and it’ll forever be in their browser history (until they clear it out, and really, who actually does that?). The chances of them stumbling upon your website again when they meant to type another web address are a lot better than them stumbling upon your full-color glossy brochure once they’ve thrown it away. On top of all that, website changes like phone numbers and addresses take literally minutes to complete. Pro tip: you can totally design a catalog that is online-only, making changes easy and saving you boatloads on printing!
4. Save money on advertising
Advertising on the internet is a fraction of the cost of advertising in the newspaper, in a magazine, on the radio, or on TV. You can easily increase the chances of getting to your preferred customer base by using targeted campaigns – something not many other advertising avenues can boast about! And another real benefit is that it’s always on – whereas a person may glance at an ad in a newspaper… but once that newspaper is folded back up and thrown in the recycling bin, they’ll never give it a second thought. Pro tip: definitely consider advertising on Facebook as well!
5. Save money on your business expansion
So you’ve saved a bunch of money from this blog post, and made a bunch of money with last week’s blog post… now it’s time to expand! Setting up eCommerce is a heck of a lot easier, and a lot less expensive, than setting up or building onto a brick and mortar store. You can add products with ease and take payments 24/7. And plus there’s no overhead to worry about – no utilities, no taxes, no store cleanliness issues to keep you up at night. Pro tip: got website hits but no orders? Offer a pop-up coupon to people visiting during your website’s peak hours to encourage a purchase.
