Email Marketing with MailChimp
MailChimp is my absolute favorite email marketing service. They’ve been around since 2001 and they are always improving their services. They started out as a small company and love to take part in helping other small companies grow.
One of my favorite things about MailChimp is their drag-and-drop interface. I can create a template for a client, share it to that client’s MailChimp account, and then train them on how to build their own email campaigns. It’s very easy for the layperson to learn and use, which helps me to empower my clients!
Another great thing about MailChimp is their pricing. With a free account, you can have up to 2,000 subscribers and send up to 12,000 emails a month. That’s like… a lot – especially for a small business. As a comparison, I think Zoda Design has about 100 subscribers (at this time) and it would take me probably another decade to grow my list to over 2,000! That said, signing up for a larger account will only set you back around $20 a month.
When you send an email campaign with MailChimp, you have access to a ton of helpful data on how your campaign is doing. You can see how many people opened the email (and which ones!), how many people clicked on the links in your email, and you can gather insight about how all your email blasts are doing over time. And when you create your lists, you can also create groups within those lists, so that you can effectively target your email to specific people.
I urge you to give MailChimp a try if you’re interested in email marketing. Since it’s free, you have absolutely nothing to lose!
